I left it very late to book a pitch with most sites for the August Bank Holiday, and found one at Maynards.

The reviewers on other sites made me expect the worst but on arrival I was very surprised at the neatness of the site, the fresh flowers especially around the toilet block.

I was greeted extremely well on arrival and given assistance to park my rig in the correct place.

I did speak to the owner, and she said they had only taken over the site at the beginning of the year and will be busy updating the facilities. Some tiling has already been completed in the shower and toilet block and once the high season is over, they will be carrying on with their upgrade.

There is a CDP for your toilet cassettes, which is not mentioned anywhere.

Evrybody I spoke to on the site were expecting the worst, like me, but all were 100% happy with the site. I just hope they follow my lead by saying so.

Yes there is only 5amps at the electric point, but if you don't use an electrical kettle you should be okay.

August BH was going to be my last trip this year, but have decided to go back for October half term.

Oh yeah, the prices are really good as well!

We were amazed that the site had 4 star rating. The toilets are clean and one block is well heated but many of the showers were poor or not working, locks missing . They were average and no more.
When we arrived they had lost the booking.
Our general impression was that the site is being run for the owners convenience rather than ours. Shop not open until 9.00 -for breakfast!
Reception office lacks warmth and is rarely open. The site was full when we got there - and empty when we left early. I was surprised by this as it was May and weather was good. The usual older caravanners who fill the sites up mid wek were not there although we would not go again unless it was essential as the ste is close to family.
