brillant campsite! have been there once and and were going back again! very very helpful and really lovely site, toilet blocks could do with a update but they are always clean and tidy, if you are camping in a tent its a bit further to the toilet/shower block, but not to far. there is a trainline that is on the other side of the road but its no too noisy and after the first hour we were there we didnt really notice them at all!. no shop on site which is brillant if you have children as you wont be asked : can i have this or that. so the children can jsut play which is great!.nearest supermarket is about a mile away.this is a small site, but not cramped at all. would definetly reccommend if you want peace and quiet!

Even though the weather was typically British with heavy rain at times, the whole site had something to offer from the club house to a very clean and welcoming swimming pool, all free!!!!.
The shower and toilet blocks were the cleanest you could wish for with the water being HOT and not luke warm.
I would recomend this site to anyone visiting the West Country, as its great to find owners who are looking out for all its visitors.

Two touring fields, one level(ish) near to bar and pool, the other further up the hill slightly sloping but with superior views.
The bar is open most nights during peak times and less frequently at others. Food is also served and looked good value.
The pool is not large and could get full at busier times but whilst we were there is was a pleasant experience.
Caution is needed on approach from Cheddar to the site, as the road narrows in places and can become quite busy at times.
The toilets are kept clean and tidy and are heated (?) as are the dish washing and freezing facilities.

It's situated 5 miles south of Taunton and very near to Taunton Racecourse and is ideally placed for getting out and about as it's very near the M5 and A303.

The site is small and informally laid out, with 40 pitches, and includes some seasonal caravans. It takes tents, as well as motorhomes and touring caravans and while we were there, a few horsedrawn 'gypsy' caravans stayed overnight a couple of times.

The toilet and shower block has 3 showers in the ladies and 3 in the gents, and can accommodate disabled people. It was clean and adequate.

There is a washing up area with 2 sinks, and a laundry room with a washing machine, tumble drier, ironing board and iron, and also a rotary clothes line outside.

There is a little shop on site which sells the basics, plus lovely ice cream.

The site is owned by a lovely young couple, Rachel and Gary, who will go out of their way to be helpful. They keep a good supply of local maps and leaflets of local attractions and on our arrival with our 3 Border Collies, we were given a printed sheet listing lots of nice places where we could walk the dogs and let them swim, most of which we would never have found ourselves as they were quite off of the beaten track.

There is no dog walk on the site, but almost immediately opposite the gate is Forestry Commission land which is ideal for their first walk in the morning and last walk at night, and there are loads of places locally where you can take the dogs. The Blackdown Hills are a 10 minute drive away and the dogs can run for miles up there. A half hour walk (or 10 minute drive away) is a lovely lake where they can swim.

Rachel also told us about the local dog-friendly pubs, one of which is right next door to the camp site. (I've given restaurant 10 stars in the rating because of this pub which does fantastic food - HUGE portions!)

I would recommend this site to anyone with dogs. Rachel and Gary have 3 dogs of their own which live on the site, and they are certainly not the sort of people who would tell you 'one bark from your dogs and you're off' like some sites that say 'dogs welcome'.

The campsite itself is pretty good and certainly good for families if you want full entertainments and stuff to keep them busy, which is the campsites main purpose really.

If likes lots of things going on, clubhouse, arcades etc and you have kids this is probably for you.

The site has a fantastic view of the bay and you can see to Weston and Wales. The pub is excellent at the night time. There is a play Area for your children. You can take your dog on holiday with you and is allowed on the beach. It is an easy starting point for sightseeing of Somerset and Devon. The pool is heated and clean. You book your slot so it is never overcrowded.

I have stayed there in my touring caravan and have felt safe even when I am there with my children on my own. Which can not be said of all sites that I have stayed on. This is a nice family site which is safe and enough off the beaten to be quite quiet.

The bar is child friendly and has a delicious bbq at weekends. When i was there end of july, there was also live entertainment on the Saturday night. Central location for Dunster, Minehead etc. There is also a private beach, which is a bit stonyat the top, but good for kites and games. The site has a nature trail down by the river ideal if you want a walk with the dogs.it has an extensive orchard and a dog walk where you can excercise pets.

The postman delivers papers and you can get basic supplies from reception , they also offer a dog sitting service though i have not tried it out.
The toilet facilities are very clean and they have built a new shower block there is constant improvement on the site all year round.

There is a pub within walking distance from the site however as there is no footpath it can be a bit dangerous when dark as its a bit winding.

Mobile reception is very poor.
