My advice is to look around the site first and check it out before parting with any money as there NO REFUNDS GIVEN. We did find cheaper alternatives with better facilities.

(we take our grandkids with us a lot and expect them to be reprimanded if misbehaving, however, it seems some parents now think their kids can do anything they want.)

location great for York, village pub great. pocklington nearest town with some shops, but it is so close to york and all the shopping anyway. shop on site has basics, and i mean basics! milk, bread, sweets. (stock up with wine before arrival!)

never felt like a traveller site to us (an odd comment), we park on the 'platform', close to the entrance, and like the friendly feel to it all. boys love the playground and return with us when they can.

no bar on site, so maybe too quiet for some.

both owners helpful and know the area well, we have had some wonderful meals in the area, some 'hidden gems' can be found. (st vincent, sutton derwent is one)

just found this new website, finding our way around, like it so far!

But there are some downsides to this site. First when you drive down the main thoroughfare to your pitch you can feel as though you are in a travellers site, as old and new caravans are stored next to pitches. Those with seasonal pitches have grass and weeds growing high around their vans. Toilets are closed at 10pm, its ok for us with vans but as for those with tents it can be quite annoying.Main gates are closed at 10pm too. Finally be careful of the warden...his manner with peoples children can leave a lot to be desired, he looks as though he just doesnt want to be there, but remember his wife is a lovely lady better to talk to her on reception if you have any problems

Can't remember how much it is or if they charge for dogs, but it has a large field at the back for walking dogs (off lead) and about 1 mile up the road your onto Cayton Bay beach which is excellent for dogs, with no restrictions I'm aware of.

The facilities on the site are fine. There's a few pubs in the village as well as a fish and chip shop and Morrisons supermarket is only a 5 minute drive away. The only negative thing I'd say is that some of the pitches are close together.

The reception was welcoming and the pitch easy to locate. The touring field is located away from the main site and the entertainment facilities were a good 10 minute walk. The field is quite exposed and on hill with sloping pitches. The toilet facilities were vandalised when we visited, cracked mirrors, no plugs, mud smeared on the walls. Obviously the work of the less respectful children on the site.

The indoor pool was always overcrowded and the changing facilities too small. It was too cold to use the outdoor pool. Facilities I thought were a bit grubby and the takeaway food of a poor reheated quality.

The entertainment was good, but as with these places you had to get a seat by 7pm or not get one at all.

All in all we wouldn't return to this site.

The staff are pleasant and friendly and always working hard to maintain the park's flora and fauna. The lake is quiet and pretty with a giant chess set for participants!

Highly recommended.

There is no pool, club house or restaurant, just peace and tranquility.

We visited Ripley in September 2003 and were very impressed indeed.the site is easy to get to and well sign-posted from the main road from Skipton direction(via blubberhouses). The site is situated about 1/4 mile from Ripley Castle and village(home of the famous ice palour!!!!) and is set in a lovely location with a large duck pond in the centre.

The toilets and showers are modern and spotless and cleaned regulary, there is also a veg prep and washing up area along with a laundry room. The reception room is next to the small shop and toddler's play room and games room. The best part of this site is the heated indoor swiming pool with changing areas, showers, toilets and sauna! the cost was 70p per adult with small children free, excellent value. There is also a dog walking area, football field, games field and play area for kids.Good fish&chip shop nearby.

The shower block was situated approx 12 yeards from our pitch and the door was opened via a electronic card that was given to you on arrival
