Upon arrival the owner met us and told us he had been trying to contact us since 11am. I told him that I had not received any calls however my phone had been on a car mount for the whole trip and maybe I had a bad signal.

At this point the owner became very aggressive and accused me of calling him a lier. To which I replied that I was not calling him a lier but just that my phone had not rung.

It transpires that he had already given our pitch away although it was still only 1pm in the afternoon. When I asked him if he had any additional pitches he aggressively told me he did not and it was my own fault. He continued to raise his voice at me at which point I got in my car and drove off to try and find somewhere else.

All in all I'm sure the camp site is very nice but the owner has some serious customer customer service issues that he needs to address with himself.

For this reason I can not recommend this camp site to anyone as if you are a bit late there is every chance that you will be talked to very badly by the owner and have nowhere to stay when you arrive.

This was one the first sites we ever stayed at when we started caravanning 20 years ago. We have visited this site four or five times as it is easy to get to from Milton Keynes. It certainly makes an ideal site for a weekend or even longer. It is situated in the Nene Valley Park which is in the outer suburbs of Peterborough within easy access from the A1. The Park provides wonderful opportunities for walks. If you want to visit the city centre the best way is to catch a steam train into the centre of Peterborough. The Nene Valley Railway runs along one side of the site and the station is a few minutes walk from the site. Also within easy walking distance is a Notcutts Garden Centre and a Beefeater Pub.

The site is in two parts. The newer part of the site has mainly hard-standings. The original site (just across the road) is mainly grass pitches. Both parts have their own toilet blocks which are up to the usual CC high standards. This site tends to be very busy so its an idea to book, non members are accepted.

The owners are welcoming and very informative about the area, they deserve the awards they have achieved. The site is well kept with an abundance of flora which is well maintained on a daily basis.

The site is divided into 6 or 7 different areas so if your in an adults only group you don't have to put up with the terrors on site, although this site seemed to attract the more disciplined children! I noticed there were a lot of scandinavians using the park, a welcome site, noting the different outfits our overseas cousins use. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable park, we will definately be returning.

The pitches are a good size, some with the super pitch facilities.

The toilet block offers free showers, and the usual chemical diposal and washing up area.

The fishing can be prolific, if using the right bait, maize! Most carp go up to 12lbs, and they give a good fight to the net!

Loved this site, and will be back again soon.
